Kumoi Kudan is written in the memory of the very fine bassoonist Masahito Tanaka,

This work is written for Yoshi and Brenda Ishikawa. Kumoi Kudan is originally 9 short movements,

written for the Japanese string instrument Koto.

This work appear for the first time in 1772 in the ” Kinkyoku Shiftu,” and seems to be composed by a Koto player named Mitsuhashi.

The work is written in the Hon Kumoi-joshi scale, and is the 7th work of 8in the Danmono repertoire.
